IL-1β/α induction by 25-HC is highly specific. The levels of secreted IL-1β (a), IL-1α (b), or IL-6 (c) in the medium of primary microglia treated with LPS (10 ng/ml) in the presence of 25-HC (10 μg/ml), cholesterol (10μg/ml), or 7α-HC (10 μg/ml) for 24 h. d Ent-25-HC (10 μg/ml) has much weaker effects in augmenting IL-1β production in primary microglia treated with LPS (10 ng/ml) for 24 h.
