LGTV infection led to hippocampal spine density reduction in wildtype mice. Golgi-Cox staining was performed in the hippocampus of uninfected and LGTV-infected (104 FFU, i.p.) mice after 7 and 14 days of infection. The dendritic spine density in a apical and b basal dendrites of hippocampal CA1 neurons and DG neurons located in c superior and d inferior were quantified (n = 3, number of dendrites in each group = 30–40). One-way ANOVA and post hoc Student’s t test using Fisher’s least significant differences were employed to analyze the data.
