Effect of apocynin on brain injury and neurological deficit scores after MCA occlusion at different time points. The multilateral infarct volume was measured 3, 7 and 14 days after stroke onset by using Cresyl Violet staining and TTC staining, and the results were normalized to the heterolateral hemisphere to correct for edema and are expressed as a percentage. Infarcted areas are lighter (white) in color. A Apocynin reduced the infarct size in MCAO model mice 3, 7 and 14 days poststroke, as shown by TTC staining and Cresyl Violet staining.
