Epigenetic marking that inhibits neurogenesis after OHCs is repopulated with new neurons in advanced TD. The trimethylation of histone H3 lysine 36 (arrows in B) positively regulates the expression of the Bmp4 gene, an important inhibitor of neurogenesis.
